92% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Napa Valley Cabernet Franc.  This edition of the Boyle MacDonald Cab was aged for three-and-a half years in French oak.  It is bold, complex and layered with intense aromatics & flavors of cassis, black cherry, tobacco, and chocolate.  Well aged and superbly crafted by winemaker Kate MacDonald, Boyle MacDonald Cabernets are ready to drink and pair well with many dishes including BBQ’d meats, grilled fish, hearty stews and pungent cheeses.  Drink now or cellar for up to twenty years.

TASTING NOTES:

56% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Sierra Foothills Merlot, 10% Sierra Foothills Zinfandel.  The intensity and poise of a Napa Valley Cab layered with soft, cherry components of Merlot, and a touch of spice from the Zin.  Balanced and ready to drink, but still very much a wine to pair with your favorite BBQ’d meats, this Red Blend has flavors of cherry, blackberry, pepper, and anise.  Drink now or hold for several years for continued softening.

Our 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant, extremely balanced wine made from the our family vineyard in Napa Valley. Thirty months of barrel aging in French oak followed by two years of bottle aging means well integrated flavors, soft mouthfeel, and yet firm enough to pair with your favorite grilled meats. And like all of our Cabs, the 2012 is a great candidate for long term aging as it will continue to improve in the bottle for years to come.

2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($48)

TASTING NOTES:

These exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come entirely from our family vineyard in Napa Valley. Two select yeast strains were used in fermentation for enhanced complexity. Thirty months of barrel aging followed by 18 months of bottle aging allowed the wine to achieve balance and structure. Black cherry, currant, fresh lavender, anise, are prominent with hints of rosemary and bell pepper. This vintage compliments grilled meats and stinky cheeses! Drink now or hold for several years.

100% high elevation Petite Sirah from El Dorado County.  With surprisingly soft tannins, deep ruby color, and notes of spiced blueberry and cocoa, this Petite Sirah has become a Boyle MacDonald favorite.  Aged for immediate appreciation as well as a candidate for further aging through several years.  Pair with your grilled meats.

Barrel aged for 18 months in French Oak and deriving exclusively from our estate vineyard in Napa Valley, this limited production Cabernet Franc offers flavors of fresh raspberry, black cherry, and a touch of cinnamon and vanilla. With a wonderfully smooth mouth feel and long, yet subtle, spicy finish, this wine pairs great with gumbos and hardy stews as well as your favorite grilled meats. Drink now or hold for several years.
